Independent technology services

Est. 2020 — Working internationally

Services

Three divisions. One accountable team.

We build business websites and custom software, monitor and maintain them, and manage the infrastructure they run on. Most engagements combine more than one division, because the systems do not separate themselves.

Managed Services is our primary ongoing engagement: monitoring, maintenance and technical management for websites that must keep working. Development projects and infrastructure management are delivered with the same direct technical involvement.

Managed Services

Ongoing maintenance, monitoring and technical management for business websites.

Keep the website running. Know when it is not.

We monitor, maintain and support business websites — including sites we did not build. The work is practical: detect problems, investigate them, fix what can be fixed and keep the site current.

  • Website availability monitoring We check that the website responds and that key pages return the expected result. A failed check raises an alert, and initial investigation narrows the cause to the application, DNS, the server, the network or an upstream dependency. Monitoring detects interruption; it does not prevent it.
  • Website security monitoring Proprietary PHP-based monitoring compares file hashes and watches for changes that should not happen. Alerts identify what changed and when so it can be investigated. Monitoring, investigation and remediation are separate activities, and no monitoring arrangement guarantees complete security.
  • Website maintenance Routine updates, compatibility checks and small fixes. We keep the site working with current PHP, server and browser versions and deal with the failures that become outages when left alone.
  • Managed website Ongoing technical responsibility for the whole site: releases, maintenance, monitoring, support and coordination with the hosting provider. You get a named technical route instead of an unowned system.
  • Technical support Practical help for the people who run and use the site: broken forms, email delivery, access problems, content and configuration issues, and questions about what changed.
  • Existing website takeover We review the codebase, hosting, DNS, backups, access and dependencies before taking responsibility. The site does not need to have been built by us, and it does not need to be replaced to be supported.

Software & Website Development

Business websites, custom applications and modernisation, delivered as defined projects.

Build the system the business actually needs.

We design and build business websites and web applications, modernise existing systems and connect the tools people already use. Projects can stand alone; ongoing support is optional.

  • Business website development Public-facing websites with clear structure, useful content and a practical publishing workflow. Designed to represent the business accurately and to remain maintainable after launch.
  • Custom web applications Portals, operational tools and workflow applications built around how a business actually works rather than around a generic product template.
  • Website modernisation Rebuilding or improving an ageing site in stages. We separate what must change from what can safely stay, so modernisation does not become an unnecessary full replacement.
  • Integrations and automation APIs, data exchange, scheduled jobs and small internal tools that remove manual steps between systems. Integrations are documented so they can be supported later.
  • Technical consultancy Digital business strategy, website positioning, platform choice, solution architecture, process analysis and technical risk assessment. Advice is part of project work, not a separate service division.

Managed Infrastructure

Administration and management of the servers and infrastructure your systems run on.

Look after the infrastructure, not just the application.

We administer Linux servers, VPS environments, web servers, PHP runtimes, databases, backups and deployments. You keep your own hosting provider and pay them directly; we provide the technical management.

  • VPS administration Day-to-day administration of virtual private servers: access, packages, services, capacity, logs and the configuration that keeps the environment predictable.
  • Linux server management Operating system maintenance, user and permission review, service configuration and the routine work that keeps a server supportable.
  • Security hardening and updates Patch management, firewall and SSH configuration, exposed-service review and practical hardening. Security is treated as an ongoing operational task, not a one-off checklist.
  • Web server, PHP and database configuration Configuration of the web server, PHP runtime and database services for the application, including version changes and compatibility checks.
  • Infrastructure monitoring Checks for availability, disk capacity, service health and other operational signals, with alerts routed to someone who can investigate.
  • Backup and recovery Backup configuration, retention and restore checks. A backup is only useful if it can be restored and the recovery process is understood.
  • Deployment and environment management Repeatable releases, environment configuration and the separation between development, staging and production where the project justifies it.
  • Migrations and modernisation Moving an application between servers or providers, upgrading runtimes, or replacing an ageing environment without unnecessary downtime.
