01 / Original context
Insurance Buffalo is an insurance platform for brokers and agents. It brings client records, contracts, renewals, commissions, documents, notifications, user management and client communication into one system, alongside a public business listing for each brokerage.
The platform and its public website were originally developed by a two-person development team. As the product continued to operate, it needed ongoing technical ownership: maintenance, new features, fixes, deployments, hosting administration and support for the people using it.
02 / Our role
The Buffalo Company took over the existing codebase rather than replacing it. For approximately three years we have independently maintained and developed both the website and the application, working within the established system and extending it as requirements changed.
The work covers ongoing maintenance, new features and enhancements, bug fixes and troubleshooting, further system development, deployments and releases, hosting administration, security and updates, technical support for users, public website development and maintenance, and the underlying infrastructure.
The public product description includes client and contract management, a renewal pipeline, commission management, document and file management, notifications, user management, bulk email, client data collection, public broker listings and AuditTrack for recording changes. These describe the product as it exists; they are not a list of features originally built by us.
03 / Ongoing responsibility
Insurance Buffalo remains live, with The Buffalo Company responsible for its ongoing technical operation and development. The original platform did not need to be replaced for the business to gain long-term technical support.
Responsibility includes keeping the application and website deployable and supported, applying updates, managing the hosting environment and responding when something fails.
